They may not know what AFJROTC stands for, but they do recognize the dress blues. AFJROTC stands for Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. It is a program that teaches leadership and basic military skills. The course is held at North High School, but Tartan students are offered the opportunity to join

Many students have a misunderstanding that if you take the class, you have to go straight into the military, which is not the case.  Of course AFJROTC  students can enlist if they want to but it’s not required.

The class is everything to the students who are in the program. Students have an opportunity to become something bigger and it gives a chance to be more involved in the community like the North Saint Paul parades, and food donation centers to name a few..

Danielle Shaw, Senior of North High School shared her perspective of AFJROTC, “The class helped me with leadership and it gave a sense of what the military is without actually joining.” Danielle also explained that taking the class is very good for college applications.
